Menu Planning Monday: Building my stockpile!

Life since the baby has come has been full, but I am slowly getting back in the swing of things. I have fianlly been able to take advantage of some of the sales again so I am getting my stockpile back up. Because of that I have only spent about $50.00 on this week's menu.

That still leaves me $25.00 to snatch up any other good deals that I may find to add to that growing stockpile. My goal is to be able to "shop" out of my stockpile and just shop for fresh foods that can't be stored and of course more deals. This is the way to never pay full price for anything again. It's how I am able to keep my food budget so low. Check out this stockpile to see what I'm talking about. Wow!

Wow! That is an impressive stockpile! Where do you have room to keep so much food?

How long do you suppose it took you to stockpile to end up with what you have now? I want to start stockpiling but I don't know what to do or where to start. We have a family of 5 right now and I think it would make a tremendous difference on budgeting if I knew where to start. I already do CVS, but I don't really understand how to work the Grocery Stores. We do not have Albertsons or Publix...I live in northern Indiana, so all we have is Kroger and Meijer, any sugggestions?

Oh My! Those pictures are something else? Do you have that much?? I've never seen anything like that, outside a store? That has got to be more than a year's supply!

Not sure what I think about it....

Your menu sounds delicious!

I have a stockpile BUT not like that!! I don't think I could handle one that size(like what you linked)! I also don't know where it would all fit in my tiny house. LOL

Cara, if only I had that much room for my own stockpile. The lady whose stockpile it is keeps it in her basement.

Lisa, to build a good stockpile takes between 6 months to a year. Unless of course you go crazy with buying hundreds of items at one time.
I just take my extra money leftover in my budget and spend that on building my stockpile.
Kroger always has great deals on groceries! I only wish we had one here. Most that I know of double and triple coupons.
To get started I would go to moneysavingmom.com. She will have a list of deals according to each store. It really helps. When your store has a great deal, match it up with coupons and then start stocking up.

fishmama, haha they are something else, aren't they? I have nowhere near that much though. I don't think I ever could either, we eat too much here! :-)
I think her goal may be a years supply. My personal goal is to one day have at least 6 months worth of things that keep. With 6 children that eat like their always starving, it is hard to keep that much extra.

Sonshine, I have to agree.

Fantastic stockpile! I seem to have a terrific HBA stockpile, but the grocery one is slow going. It's been especially hard since we've moved to the land of no doubles.

nessatxmom, I started out with a great HBA stockpile too. Now I have started giving away as much as I get.
The grocery stockpile has been a little more slow going. It does take longer when you can't double, but it doable.
Maybe if we didn't eat so much or if I didn't have family that "shops" at my house i'd have more. :-)

That stockpile was completely amazing, of course, I don't think I even have room for that.

I guess instead of justing making a list for the week I should set a dollar amount and stick to that.

Melody, I have $75.00 a week budgeted for food. I still make a grocery list based on my menu though.
I try to make my menu based on what I have here at the house already. That way i'm not buying every ingredient for every meal.

Thanks for stopping by! :)

As for my goulash....
1lb ground beef
1 can tomato sauce or soup(depending on what I have on hand)
1 can water
dry pasta
chili powder
garlic powder
minced onions
grated carrots(sometimes)
1/2 tsp. yellow mustard

Mix altogether.

Sometimes I take whatever leftover plain cooked pasta I have in the fridge if I don't have any I just make sure I add extra water and let the noodles cook with the meat. Sometimes it ends up being more like "chili mac".

Wow, what a stockpile. Like the others I don't have enough room for so much food but I would like to have more stockpiled than I currently do. I need to make a list of what I need to purchase in bulk and get on it when things are on sale. I can walk to Whole Foods for fresh stuff. I'm getting a new refrigerator so we will be eating out of the old one until the new one comes.

Your menu plan looks great. I've got to get on that regularly and do it. You gals who do are so on the right track.

I can't seem to get this comment to take so I'm going to do it under anonymous but I am JC at alwayswithme.wordpress.com.

Your menu sounds wonderful this week Teresa.

That stockpile was amazing! I did got some stuff stockpiled last month. However, I do need to get better with the understanding that I'm trying to stock stuff up, not just to have when I run out. Everything I did have I've already used. Maybe if I put somewhere other than my kitchen it wouldn't be so tempting to use right away.

I used to stockpile, but I haven't in a while. I SO need to get back at it! Thanks for the reminder.

Sunday dinner sounds delicious! I only have enough energy on Sundays to make breakfast for dinner. I kind of miss the yummy Sunday dinners we used to have, but not enough to start making them again. lol
